Castle, tower house in Glinsk (ballymoe By.) stood in 1574 under Hubert boy McDavy [Burke], anchoring local power before the larger 17th-C house rose nearby. A broken ogee-headed window still protrudes from the north wall, preserving the shape of a room where people watched the land, kept heat, and lived beneath a roof no longer standing. The castle may have been small, but it was the kind of place where ownership, fear and daily life crossed.

In existence in 1574 when 'Glynske' castle was in the possession of 'Hubert boy McDavy [Burke]' (Nolan 1901b, 117). Not located. It presumably stood on or close to the 17th-C house (GA007-062001----). A fragment of an ogee-headed window is visible at the latter monument, protruding from the base of N wall, just E of the doorway. Built or held in the late 16th century by Hubert McDavy (Burke), an Irish Gaelic family member. It is remembered as part of the local medieval defensive architecture and linked to the Burke dynasty of Glinsk.
