Site of Ballyglass Castle — Report the wrong picture

Muddy Nuala, mother of David Burke, allegedly bred violence inside this castle before men forgot its shape. The building has vanished except for a low grassy ridge seven metres long on a west-facing slope. It still stands above bogland like a ridge on a sleeping animal, waiting for someone to remember why it grew large.

On a W-facing slope in undulating pastureland overlooking bogland to S and W. The OS Letters (O'Flanagan 1927, Vol. 1, 70) note that the infamous 'Nuala na meadoige', the mother of David Burke, is said to have resided here. Only a low rectangular flat-topped grassy mound (NNW-SSE 7m, H 1.2m) survives. No architectural features are visible. A holy well (GA007-020----) lies 150m to W.
