Balrothery stands as a ruined three-storey square tower house in County Dublin, built around 1500 with crenellations and trefoil openings. Its rubble stone walls still rise despite decay, marking a fortified residence that once demanded respect and obedience. The brick-dressed square openings suggest later alteration, perhaps adaptation rather than grandeur. Whatever life moved inside has vanished, leaving only the shape of human ambition pressed into stone.
