Carriganea Castle

Carriganea Castle was built in the 15th century by the Fitzgerald family, the powerful Earls of Kildare, during the period of English expansion in Munster. It is remembered as part of the network of strongholds used to assert control over the region and resist Gaelic Irish resurgence.
