Carricknahorna Ridge holds a thirty-metre circular fort on a high Donegal ridge, offering excellent views of the surrounding land. The earthen bank has faded to slight traces, yet the levelled ground remains clear enough to show where people once shaped the ridge into a defensible home. Its height suggests watchfulness, perhaps against invaders or simply against the endless Atlantic weather. The fort still stands as a quiet marker of human presence on the landscape.

Internal diam. c. 30m. A circular, apparently artificially levelled, area enclosed by slight traces of an earthern bank. No sign of the fosse recorded by Davies survives. It was situated on top of a ridge with excellent views of the surrounding area. The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal.
