Cashelard Fairy Fort near the Church is a 20-metre earthen ring on a low Donegal hill, broken in places but still holding its shape beside the glass. Rain collects near the southern causeway, feeding the hidden hollow beneath the clay where stone may still wait. People called it a fairy fort, not to dismiss it but to admit that some rooms are built for more than human eyes.

Internal diam. 20m. A subcircular space enclosed by an earthen bank and a fosse and probably by an outer bank, although the latter is only discernible in the N sector. There are many breaks in the bank but an internal causeway raised above a wet patch coincides with a gap 1.75m wide in the S sector. The interior slopes from N to S causing water to collect near the causeway. A hollow 1.5m N-S at the centre seems to indicate a Man-made underground passage. There appears ·to be stone present beneath the clay surface. Another hollow to the N against the bank 3m N-S and 2m E-W may be another section of this Man-made underground passage. It is situated on the summit of a low hill in rough grazing land. The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal.
