Single-arch limestone bridge over An Abhainn Mhór [Owenmore or Ballynahinch River], built c.1830. Rusticated voussoirs to segmental arch, rusticated coursed walls and gunnelled soffit. Short stepped-plan ashlar buttresses flanking arch and having quarter-domes to corners. String course to base of parapets with coursed tooled copings and with recent concrete repairwork to north-west end of south-west elevation and to middle of opposite elevation. Rubble copings to flanking approach walls.

This elegant road bridge crosses An Abhainn Mhór [Owenmore or Ballynahinch River] at a stretch known as the canal. It is an important part of the communication network between Galway and Clifden on the route originally known as the New Centre Connemara Road, designed by Alexander Nimmo. The structure displays a variety of stoneworking techniques and the short buttresses are particularly well crafted.
