Cairn

Cairn, unclassified

What is recorded here

Cairn stands on a SW-facing slope in County Clare, Ireland, its grassed stones marking a boundary within an extensive field system. Two upright stones still break the surface near the north edge, while a later enclosure abuts the site and a fulacht fia lies close beside it. The arrangement suggests people gathered, cooked, and remembered others in the same breath, turning stone and fire into a shared life.

A grassed-over cairn (11m NW-SE; 9m NE-SW; H 1-1.3m) with two upright stones visible on the N side c. 2m from the edge. The cairn is abutted at SW by a later enclosure which opens to the NW. A fulacht fia (CL016-057002-) is located c. 11m to the SW. Another cairn (CL016-058----) is located c. 100m to the NNE.
