Cairn stands on the second highest hill in the Loughanlea range, offering panoramic views in every direction except the NE. A telecommunications mast and fenced structures sit immediately N, truncating the S-SW-W base where the perimeter broke. The remaining circular mound reaches 1.8m at SE and hides its lower portions in heather. Treasure hunters pierced its top before December 2000, but the National Monuments Acts still guard what remains.

Situated on the second highest hill in the Loughanlea range affording panoramic views in all directions except to the NE. The cairn is located immediately N of a fenced area containing a telecommunications mast and associated structures. From S-SW-W the perimeter of the cairn has been destroyed where the fence truncates the base of the monument. The remainder of the monument is well-preserved and it consists of circular cairn composed of medium and large stones (diam. at base c. 16m). It was probably originally dome-shaped in profile and ranges in height from 0.9m at NNE to 1.8m at SE. The lower portions are partially obscured by heather. An inspection in December 2000 recorded a number of holes in the top of the cairn, presumably made by treasure hunters.
