What is recorded here

Cairn in County Louth is a vanished circular feature where human bones once lay, recorded by Wright in 1758 but now absent from the surface. It is a ghost in the ground, remembered only through that old observation and the silence left behind.

The following description is derived from both the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986) and the 'Archaeological Survey of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1991). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Recorded by Wright (1758, 8-9, Pl. 2, Site E) as a circular feature which contained human bones. No visible surface trace.
