Cairn is a 228-acre townland in County Cavan where a megalithic structure still marks prehistoric life beneath later borders. The McKiernan Clan held the land until royal grants redirected it, yet Ferrall Oge McKernan leased parts back within a year, suggesting ownership never fully left local hands. Stone walls, a mill, and a walled house appeared quickly under James Craig’s deputy work, turning confiscated ground into a functioning settlement before the new owners even arrived.
