Kinahan saw a small cairn on a rise west of Begirris Bay in 1885, but later visitors found empty grass instead. The stones may have scattered under ploughs, tide or time, yet the act of marking that spot still belongs to someone who lived there.

Kinahan (1885-6, 424) records a small cairn on a rise of ground to the W of Begirris Bay. This could not be found on this occasion.
