What is recorded here
No adult body is certain in the stories, but the children's names keep returning. The ground sits inside an old defensive ridge, marked by a collapsed wall and a shallow ditch that once kept strangers out. Quarrying scarred the north edge, and grass has taken back most of the shape. What remains is a small buried chamber of age, waiting to be remembered rather than measured.
Within an enclosure (GA061-096-----). No visible surface trace survives.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
