Burnt mound in Roscath

This is the record for the burnt mound excavated by Yvonne Whitty (E3249) on the N11 road improvement scheme. The mound showed two phases of activity. The earliest phase comprised a pit, hearth and postholes and dated to the early Bronze Age. The second phase comprised a trough, and numerous pits and hearths. This phase dated to the middle/late Bronze Age. Both phases were dated by radiocarbon dates. (Whitty 2009q) Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 22 January 2013

Burnt mound in Roscath is a Bronze Age archaeological feature, dating to approximately 2500–800 BCE.
