Burnt mound in Robswalls

Monitoring of topsoil removal identified a burnt stone and charcoal spread (L 4m, Wth 3m, D 0.1m). Some tiny fragments of burnt bone were recovered during the excavation (O Neill 2004, 184). Compiled by: Geraldine Stout Date of upload: 26 August 2011

Burnt mound; date uncertain but likely Neolithic or Bronze Age. These features are often associated with ritual or industrial activities, such as heat-treated stone use in cooking or ceremonial contexts.
