Burnt mound in Meeneeshal

In boggy ground, on a gentle S-facing slope and to the N of a stream. A mound of heat-shattered stones and charcoal-enriched soil was noted here during tree-planting in 2001 (pers. comm. John Roche). The mound is almost completely overgrown with gorse and briars, making measurements impossible. The area immediately around the burnt mound has been recently planted with trees. A Bronze Age burnt mound, likely dating to between 2500 and 800 BCE.
