Burnt mound in Knockaderry Lower

Situated in pasture, in a hollow overlooking a N-S valley to the E. Six fulachta fiadh were noted in the 1950s (NMI file). They were not visible at ground level and there is no local knowledge of them. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Waterford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Burnt mound in Knockaderry Lower is a Neolithic fulacht fiadh, dating to approximately 2500–500 BCE. These sites are significant as they provide evidence of early cooking or ritual practices, and their presence indicates human settlement and land use in the area during the Neolithic period.
