Burnt mound in Inishcoe

In pasture, located at the base of a NW-facing slope. When discovered in 1996, this burnt mound was visible at the grass margin of a recently ploughed field. It was evident as a slight mound (c. 8m NW-SE; c. 5m NE-SW), which was clipped on the NE edge by the ploughing, and truncated at SW by a field drain. A layer (D. 0.4m) of burnt stone and charcoal fragments in grey-black soil was visible in the drain section. There is a rath (MA038-062----) 150m to SSE.
