What is recorded here

Castle Island rises in County Mayo, wearing its ruins like a wound that refuses to close. The castle is unclassified, denied even the dignity of a name, yet it remains a castle in the way a shadow remains a body when the light leaves. Stone and sea have spent centuries negotiating the terms of its disappearance. What is left is enough to prove it existed and enough to keep it alive in the minds of those who watch it decay.
