Burn Fort

In pasture. Depicted on 1904 and 1935 OS 6-inch maps as hachured, bivallate circular enclosure. Roughly circular area (48m N-S; 45m E-W), defined by earthen bank (H 1.8m); planted with conifers. Bank partially levelled and extensively disturbed where it survives. Field fence curves concentric to fort 12m to N; may incorporate remains of outer bank. Described by Coleman (1947, 71) as 'well preserved single ramparted fort 130ft in diameter, with remains of a fosse'. Man-made underground passage (8856) in interior.
