Ten men and boys lay west to east under Castletown sand, waiting for a bucket to break their quiet. They had no grave marks, no stones, no name to hold them upright. The bulldozer did not discover them so much as introduce them back into human memory.

In 1974 a number of skeletons were discovered during bulldozing operations in a sand pit. Four partly articulated skeletons were found (depth 1.20m) orientated W-E and a large amount of bone was found in the vicinity of the burials. No grave structures were evident. They represent a minimum of ten individuals (1974:94) mainly adult males but some young adults were identified (Cahill and Sikora 2011, vol 2, 500-501).
