Kilbride is the old burying ground where children were laid to rest beside Tobar Brighde, not beside any church. The absence of a church is the strange part: the community still made a sacred place, and it still stands in County Mayo.

This record refers to a burial ground noted in the 1838 OS Letters: 'In Kilbride (Cill Bhrighde) Townland, lies an old burying ground, in which are no ruins of a church. There is also a well called Tobar Brighde (Toberbride) [MA091-039002].’ (O’Flanagan 1927, 445 (184)). This is likely to be the location of the children's burial ground (MA091-038----) noted in Kilbride by Aldridge (1969, 84). The exact location has not been established.
