What is recorded here
Glanturkin in County Cork, Ireland holds an old burial place, though its exact location has been lost. Power recorded the site in 1940, preserving a faint trace of dead people and memory beneath ordinary ground. The absence of a visible marker does not erase the function of the place; it withholds the chance to stand beside the departed and remember them without invention.
According to Power (1940, 100) 'an old burial place' in this townland. Exact location not known.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
