Burial ground in Castlecarragh

Local tradition of a graveyard sited in gravelly field close to the sea known as 'Shankill'. Bones are said to have been found here when ploughing. Man-made underground passage (LH008-086002-) said to be in same field. The precise location of this monument is not known. The above description is derived from both the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986) and the 'Archaeological Survey of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1991).
