What is recorded here

Death in Donegal was never far from the living. People buried their dead on the slope above Lough Swilly, where the water could watch the mound and carry the names away. The hill still stands, smooth and patient, keeping what the tide refused to take.

Known locally as 'the burial ground' the site is a low mound, almost natural looking. Situated on a slope running down to Lough Swilly.
