Bullaun stone in Inishmore OR Deer Island

On the N shore of Deer Island. Described by O’Sullivan et al. (2010) as follows: ‘A possible bullaun stone was found on the northern shore of Deer Island. It consists of a hemispherical cup hollowed out of a rock. The rock may be broken. Because most of the rocks around are limestone bullaun like rocks can frequently be seen. This one, however had a much smoother ‘cup’, leading us to believe it had been used to grind something, perhaps fishbait’.
