What is recorded here

Dangan Castle stands in ruin at Knocksaggart, a tower house reduced to stones and memory. It belongs to the old Clare landscape where families built tall defenses against danger and pride. The structure has lost its roof and rooms, but the foundation still marks the boundary between human ambition and time.

Dangan Castle was built in the 17th century by the Blake family, who were prominent landowners in the region. It is remembered as an example of early Irish tower house architecture and reflects the defensive and social structures of the period.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
