House indicated within townland of Derrie (Ballaghderry) on the Down Survey (1655-6) map of the region. Its owner in 1641 was John Molloy of Gortacurraghmore and was granted in 1663 to Charles Molloy (Loeber 1988) The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997).
