Bruree Castle Upper (ruins)

Bruree Castle Upper was built by the Fitzgerald family, Earls of Kildare, in the 15th century. It is remembered as a significant example of late medieval Irish castle architecture and as part of the extensive network of strongholds held by the powerful Fitzgerald dynasty in Munster.
