Single-span rubble stone road bridge over railway line, c.1880, probably originally single-arch. Extensively renovated, c.1970, with span replace. Rusticated squared rubble stone walls. Squared rubble stone flanking walls. Replacement rock-faced stone cladding, c.1970, to parapet walls with cut-stone coping over. Single-span, c.1970, with reinforced concrete beams. Sited spanning Great Southern and Western Railway line. Grass banks to railway line.

This bridge is a fine structure that forms an imposing feature on the Great Southern and Western Railway line and is one of a group of bridges on the section of that railway line that passes through County Kildare. The construction of the replacement span is of some technical engineering merit as an example of late twentieth-century bridge building. The bridge exhibits good quality stone masonry to the original portions with fine, crisp joints. The bridge is of considerable historical and social significance as a reminder of the railway network development in Ireland, which brought about many technical advances and developed commercial activity in the late eighteenth century, while necessitating the construction of such road bridges.
