Ornate road bridge over tributary of Ilen River at entrance to New Court demense. Low overgrown arch on upstream side. Ornate down stream elev. (H 5.5m; L 19.5m) over semi-circular arch (H 1.5m) with pointed blind arches and ogee-headed niches divided by pilasters. Parapet wall (H 3m) with quatrefoil recesses; crowned by paired pointed arches. Ivy-clad stump of wall on upstream side of bridge known locally as remains of "watergate". The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992).
