What is recorded here
A bridge is depicted to the W and upriver from a settlement cluster (CO087-141----) named 'Carrigoline town' on the Down Survey (1655-6) Barony map . The location of the bridge may correspond with the modern day bridge which spans the Owenboy River at Carrigaline town. However, currently the precise location of the bridge is unknown.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009).
