Single-arch former railway-over-river bridge, built c.1850, now disused. Notably tall round-headed arch with margined rock-faced limestone voussoirs, coursed, dressed stone to soffits and parapets, random rubble to abutments. Dressed rubble stone copings to parapets, with cast-iron railings above. Single carriageway with overgrown vegetation to deck. Bridge spans Drumore River to north-west of town centre. Water tower (41307039) immediately to east of bridge, former Ballybay railway station (41307006) to north-east. Water supply pump mechanism to water pump from Drumore River extant to east buttress of railway bridge.

In addition to its aesthetic merits and the functional role it once performed, this single-arch structure also demonstrates impressive engineering and high-quality masonry skills. Fitting well into its surrounding environment, the bridge is typical of how man-made features can be related well to the landscape.
