In gently undulating deciduous woodland on Carton Demesne near the S bank of the of the Rye Water river. The site of the well is occupied by a large covered sump (diam. 6m). Compiled by: Gearóid Conroy Date of upload: 10 June 2011
Linked to Saint Bride (Brigid), the well is associated with traditional healing practices and may have been a site of pilgrimage. Local folklore suggests the water was sought for its curative properties, particularly for ailments of the eyes and general well-being.
