Bluegate House in Abbeyleix Demesne is a former school built in the shape of a cross, now somebody’s home. At last, you can be sent to a corner of the school and legally pour yourself a glass of wine.

Detached single-storey Tudor Revival former school with dormer attic, c. 1880, on a cruciform plan with gabled canopy over door opening and projecting porch to side. Now in residential use.
