Gateway erected c. 1820. Decorative strap wrought-iron field gate with scrolled detailing on cylindrical rubble stone piers with conical rubble stone cap, north pier partly cement rendered. Similar gateway further south-east on driveway leading to former Birdstown House.

This attractive field gate with its impressive piers is a distinguishing and picturesque landmark and a fine example of local masonry and metal working skills. A similar gateway is located along the driveway, creating a visual unity which is integral to the overall character of the demesne. Birdstown House burnt down c. 1984 making this gateway a significant surviving component of the architectural heritage of the demesne, with other surviving structures including a bridge (40903833), gateways (40903832, 40903830) and outbuildings (40903811).
