What is recorded here

Ballymacreese is a hidden bawn in County Limerick, belonging to Clanwilliam and passing from Holcroft to the Duke of York before Abraham Greene bought it in 1703. Its exact location has been lost, but the names suggest a fortified household where ownership changed as often as the tide. Perhaps a kitchen fire still smolders beneath the grass, waiting for someone to remember the shape of its walls.

The precise location of a castle (LI014-096----) and bawn (LI014-096001-) in the townland of Ballymacreese has not been identified. Westropp (1906-07, 92) recorded the following details about Ballymacreese; '1621 H. Holcroft was granted C[astle]. and bawn of Ballymcrice in Clanwilliam (Pat.
