Toberanierin Lower and Toberanierin Upper mark a battlefield in County Wexford, though the names refuse to explain which side bled or why. The division between lower and upper suggests a slope where height decided life and death, perhaps revealing men caught beneath a ridge while others watched from above. That much is certain only in the shape of the place: a border drawn by violence, preserved in two names instead of one.
