Battle of the Downs is a major battle site with a checked map point.
The Battle of the Downs was fought in 1639 between the Dutch Republic and the Spanish Navy, off the coast of the English Channel near Dover. The Dutch victory secured their naval dominance and helped end the Eighty Years' War, significantly weakening Spanish power at sea.
