The Battle of Ballinamuck (8 September 1798) marked the defeat of the main force of the French incursion during the 1798 Rebellion in Ireland.
French forces under General Humbert defeated by British and loyalist forces on 8 September 1798 in County Longford. The battle ended the French military support for the Irish Rebellion, significantly weakening the revolutionary cause.
