Freestanding irregular-plan three-stage battery, built 1908, having central block, flanking basement blocks and open parapets with walkways. Now disused. Eight-bay single-storey central block comprising flat rendered roofs, red brick walls and square-headed openings. Four-bay single-storey flanking blocks comprising flat rendered roof, rendered walls, square-headed recess openings, iron railings and rendered steps. Rendered parapet and walkway giving access to four gun emplacements with iron fixings. Four rectangular- and irregular-plan single-storey pill boxes connected by trenches cut into the limestone bedrock. Pill boxes comprise flat rendered roofs, rendered walls, square-headed openings with iron shuttering and square-headed door opening.

This battery has a similar form to other batteries in the locality and is typical of its type. Distinctive elements of this particular battery include the four gun emplacements which retain some gun fixings. Also, the purpose built interior buildings and pill boxes with their intricate connection system are excellent indicators of the operations involved in the efficient running of such a defence. The prominent yet discreet positioning of this battery in the landscape allows it to be inconspicuous.
