What is recorded here

Holy well, c.1700, with random rubble stone retaining wall on a circular plan having rounded coping, and wrought iron gate. Set back from road.
A small-scale structure forming a subtle feature in the landscape yet representing an important element of the archaeological heritage of Gowran on account of the associations with an early-surviving ecclesiastical site or place of worship. The retaining wall having been constructed in a traditional manner from unrefined locally-sourced stone is imbued with a rustic quality that integrates well into the surrounding landscape.
