What is recorded here

Barrow is a roughly circular earthwork, twelve to thirteen metres across, set on a small plateau above the Aughvaria and Gortnageragh valleys in County Limerick. A standing stone and a stone row lie twenty to twenty-five metres away, suggesting the mound was never meant to stand alone. It is absent from historic mapping, yet satellite images taken in 2011, 2013 and 2014 still show its shape. The place may have marked a boundary, a burial or a seasonal gathering point, but no written account has survived to say which.

On a small plateau on the W-facing slope of a hillock, in pasture, overlooking the valley of the Aughvaria River to N and the Gortnageragh River to S. A standing stone (LI016-002003-) and a stone row (LI016-002001-) lie c. 20m to W and c. 25m to NW, respectively. Not depicted on OS historic mapping. Described as an unclassified type of barrow.
