What is recorded here

On a slightly raised area, on N-facing slope, in rough wet pasture. Surveyed by the ASI in 2008 and described as an oval-shaped area (approx. dims. 20m NE-SW; 12m NW-SE) defined by a scarp (H 0.95m; Wth 1.1m), with fosse (overall Wth 3.5; base Wth 1.4m; D 0.4m) and an outer bank (Wth 2.75m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.25m) only visible from NNW-N-NNE. Only the enclosing elements are visible in the N sector, the rest of the monument is covered with dense vegetation. The outer bank appears to have a terminus at NNE. Some large stones were noted at SW. Monument is visible as a tree-planted earthwork on Digital Globe orthophotos taken 2011-13 and on Google Earth orthoimages taken 28/06/2018. See attached sketch plan and cross-sections surveyed and drawn by the ASI. Compiled by: Alison McQueen, and Vera Rahilly Date of upload: 17 July 2020
