Barrow

On low-lying, wet pasture, which is cut by land drains and watercourses. Conjoined to ring-barrow (LI023-225003-) to SE and within a large complex of ring-barrows. Not depicted on OSi historic maps. Identified as a circular-shaped cropmark by the Bruff aerial photographic survey in 1986 (Bruff 15602: AP 4/3665). Monument is visible as a circular-shaped earthwork (diam. 10m) on OSi orthoimage taken 2005-2012 and on Google Earth orthoimage taken 25/03/2017. A Neolithic ring-barrow, part of a larger burial complex, indicating early communal burial practices in the region. Its association with other ring-barrows suggests a significant ceremonial or funerary landscape.
