Barra, Kiessimul Castle

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Barra, Kiessimul Castle as Tower House (15th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Kiessimul Castle on Barra was built in the 15th century by the MacNeil clan, the hereditary chiefs of Barra and the Uists. It is important as a historic seat of the clan and as a well-preserved example of a Hebridean tower house.
