Ballysaggartmore House

Freestanding single-bay single-storey barrel-roofed red brick mausoleum, c.1905. Turf-covered barrel-vaulted concrete roof behind parapet. Red brick Flemish bond walls with cut-stone coping to gable on red brick consoles, and red brick flanking tapered piers having red brick surrounds, yellow brick Running bond panels, and moulded cut-stone capping. Square-headed door opening with cut-stone lintel, and cast-iron door. Interior with cut-stone slab shelves on cast-iron frame. Set back from road in grounds shared with Ballysaggartmore House with mausoleum part submerged into hillside.

An attractive mausoleum, known as Woodcroft Vault, designed to incorporate Egyptian-style detailing, and which forms an appealing feature in the landscape. The construction in red and yellow brick produces an attractive polychromatic visual effect, which enhances the prominence of the mausoleum in the grounds. The mausoleum is of particular importance for its associations with the Woodruffe family of Ballysaggartmore House.
