Ballyduff Bridge

Four-arch rubble stone road bridge over river, c.1775. Random rubble limestone walls with cut-limestone triangular cut-waters to piers having rendered coping, and dressed limestone coping to parapets. Pair of elliptical arches with camber elliptical flanking arches having dressed stone voussoirs, and rubble stone soffits with remains of unpainted render over. Sited spanning Arrigle River with grass banks to river.

Exhibiting a traditional construction in unrefined locally-sourced stone a modest-scale bridge of rustic quality representing an important element of the mid to late eighteenth-century transport heritage of County Kilkenny forms an appealing landmark in a rural setting.
