What is recorded here

Gateway, c.1825, comprising pair of open work iron piers with iron double gates having finials, and cut-limestone chamfered coping supporting sections of iron flanking railings having finials. Road fronted at entrance to grounds of Coolmore House.
Representing an early surviving artefact in mass-produced iron an elegantly-appointed gateway exhibits a simple design quality dependent upon profiled finials for decorative effect. Forming a neat group with an attendant gate lodge (12403212/KK-32-12) the resulting ensemble makes a positive visual statement at the entrance to the grounds of the Coolmore House estate.

This does not grant access. Most recorded buildings are privately owned; view them only from public ground unless the owner allows entry.
