Gateway, extant 1840, on a symmetrical plan comprising pair of lichen-spotted rusticated granite ashlar piers supporting lopped flat iron "farm gate". Now disused. Road fronted at entrance to grounds of Ballyanne House.

A gateway forming part of a neat self-contained group alongside an adjacent gate lodge (see 15702929) with the resulting ensemble not only making a pleasing, if increasingly forlorn visual statement in a sylvan street scene at a secondary entrance on to the grounds of the Ballyanne House estate, but also surviving as an interesting relic of the estate following the demolition (1943) of the eponymous country house (see 15702925), '[a] handsome seat…finely situated on the brow of a richly wooded eminence [commanding] an extensive prospect' (Lewis 1837 I, 122).
